Sore Winner.
I did the unthinkable. Two back-to-back 2-hour open play sessions… followed by a round of singles.
What started as “just a quick game” turned into an all-day grind. Dinks, drives, dives—I left it all on the court. And your boy won. Almost every match.
I lost to this power couple that shouldn’t be in the 4.0 group but that’s another talk for another day.
Anyway. Great play. But, then I paid for it.
By the time I got home, my legs felt like Jell-O and my calves were staging a full-blown rebellion. I hobbled to the bathroom, poured the Epsom salt and in the most unsexy manner humanly possible, collapsed into the tub.
My wife? Not amused. She gave me that look—equal parts concern and “you did this to yourself.”
She’s not wrong.
But here’s the thing: pickleball has a way of pulling you in. The pace, the community, the competition—it’s addicting. Still, I learned something the hard way: hydration and recovery can’t be optional.
That soreness? Preventable.
That bath? Should’ve been a routine, not a rescue mission.
It’s part of why I started Voilyte. I wanted an electrolyte made for pickleball players—something to help us bounce back quicker, stay on the court longer, and avoid the death march to the tub.
Next time, I’ll be sipping smarter and soaking less.
Love. Rob
