ADIDAP
There I was, at a Lakers game, watching the LeBron James—arguably the greatest (active) player alive
MJ is still the GOAT, let’s not get it twisted.
The energy was electric, the court packed with legends.
And what was I thinking about?
My backhand.
My ATP defense.
Whether I should switch to a thicker paddle.
It hit me mid-cheer: this might be a problem.
Pickleball has officially taken over my brain. What started as weekend fun has become a full-on obsession. I catch myself shadow swinging in the kitchen. I’ve paused meetings to ponder how Ben Johns actually moves his hands. I wake up thinking about grip pressure.
It’s lowkey unhealthy.
Don’t get me wrong—pickleball is an incredible sport. It’s social, competitive, accessible. But there’s a fine line between passion and compulsion. And I might’ve crossed it when I zoned out during a Lakers fast break to rewatch a slow-mo of my last third shot drop.
Here’s the upside: that obsession led me to build Voilyte—an electrolyte made specifically for this sport and the weirdly obsessed players (like me) who can’t get enough.
But even so, I’m learning to take a breath. To stretch. To hydrate. To be present. Even if it’s just for four quarters of NBA greatness.
Real talk though. I think I could beat Lebron in pickleball.
Love. Robert
